Are you fed up with your phone battery draining up too fast? Facebook’s app in your phone might be the reason behind that. The app has many functions and Facebook literally forces you to download it. It is really popular with over a billion downloads but it does cause an adverse effect not only on your phone’s performance but also on its battery life.
According to a reporter, Samuel Gibbs from a popular news agency “Guardian”, he found in his experience that without the Facebook app his battery life lasted 20% more than it did with the app. When reported to Facebook, their spokesperson spokesperson replied that
“We have heard reports of some people experiencing speed issues stemming from our Android app. We are looking into this and will keep you posted. We are committed to continuing to improve these issues.”
But the answer deals more with the performance issues and Facebook is yet to acknowledge the battery issue.
Facebook’s app is essential for people who needs to get notification alerts on the go but there are other alternatives of it. Facebook Lite, the app launched last year for slower net connections, is quite a good replacement for the app. It is a lightweight and fast app with the facility of push notifications. Apart from that you can also receive FB notifications through Chrome browser. You can go to Settings> Site Settings> Notifications to enable facebook notifications on your device.
So if you wish to extend the battery life of your device, getting rid of Facebook app might be a good idea. On majority of phones it comes pre-loaded and you don’t have the option to uninstall it but you can disable it by going into the App manager of your device.
