Here’s What Samsung’s Next Galaxy Phone Could Look Like

The Galaxy S7 is expected to be unveiled this month

Android fans waiting for Samsung’s next smartphone now have a better idea of what to expect.

A recently leaked image reportedly shows two new Samsung smartphones that have yet to be released: the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

These phones would be the sequels to Samsung’s current generation Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge flagship Android phones. Judging by the images, published on Twitter by Evan Blass, the two new devices will look nearly identical to their predecessors:

The new pair of Galaxy phones appear to have the same brushed metal edges and overall design that Samsung introduced on last year’s model, which the company called a “reimagined design.” Samsung made its flagship phones out of plastic for years before making the switch to metal and glass, which gives the devices a more premium feel like that of Apple’s iPhone.

Samsung’s most significant upgrades will be found inside the device, as the phones are expected to feature larger batteries and faster processors, according to Blass. Both phones will also come with a microSD card slot, which allows users to add extra storage without having to upgrade the device. Samsung notably omitted this feature last year to some users’ dismay.

The camera inside the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will also be different, if Blass’ report turns out to be accurate. Samsung is said to be using a new module that’s better equipped to capture photos in low-light conditions. This module is said to have a 12-megapixel resolution sensor, compared to the 16-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S6. As experts have pointed out, however, the number of megapixels isn’t always the best indicator of camera quality.

It’s worth noting that Blass has a history of being accurate when it comes to leaking details on unreleased tech products. In 2014, for instance, he published an image of a leather stitched Chromebook made by Samsung just before the company officially unveiled it. More recently, he reported that T-Mobile would allow subscribers to stream Netflix and HBO without having it count toward their data plan before the carrier announced BingeOn.

Samsung is holding an event in Barcelona on Feb. 21 where it’s widely expected to officially reveal the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
